It would be an understatement to say that at present I am not ‘super preparation’ mode for UPSC. Time and again, I fall out of sync and lose some points regarding preparedness. To be honest it would be the most appropriate to say that, UPSC exam in an objective test of your preparedness.

I believe 100% that : a journey however difficult can be enjoyable and rewarding with success at the same time. It call depends on how much we are able to tweak our personality in such a way that preparing with the right mindset seems the only option we choose everyday. This choice of cracking this exam every moment pushes us to do all things that ultimate result in our success.

The whole preparation of aspirant should revolve around making this so called ‘subjective’ exam objective. There might be elements where no straight line approach can be taken but even that can be dealt with objective approach.

Example, Essay paper of Mains. The paper might seem subjective and dependent on how much our ideological thinking is compatible with public service. Even then by reading sources like newspapers, PM/President speech etc and repeated writing on expression, it is possible to secure much better marks. In the end its all about how many dimensions and ideas were are able to present. It can much more enjoying journey if we FIND that joy in writing essays. Reading toppers’ essay and finding cues that make them different from the crowd can be a much more fulfilling path.

Also, along with this a sense of Accountability is needed. A person with much creativity and intellect can easily falter because in the end this exam also test perseverance. Clocking 10 hours of deep study will automatically give you that edge that most people aspire for but aren’t able to get. This might seem a bit too “un-stoic” but it might be actually good. I have never seen a well-prepared guy fail. Even when I see DJ he was always focused on getting result. Anything else was miles away from his mind and schedule. This is a sureshot wat to separate yourself from the crowd.

Lastly, fixing accountability is always done with strict parameter with which one has to abide by.

  1. 10 hours of DEEP STUDY
  2. Course completion and revision
  3. Mock papers — Evaluation — Learnings
  4. Optional — Mastery
  5. Essay — Super
  6. GS — Best practices — Diagrams,Reports,Maps,Data,Linkages
